The Boswell church began in a tent meeting sponsored by the Jerome church, with the help of Rev. May Brown, Rev. Clarence Neiderhiser, and some dedicated lay people. The church was organized on March 4, 1945 by District Superintendent R.F. Heinlein. Rev. W.I. Couchenour came to pastor the eleven charter members. Services were held in the Odd Fellows Hall on Main St.
In April of 1946, a brick building on Morris Ave. was purchased from the Davis Coal Co. and remodeled into an auditorium and parsonage. This building was dedicated on July 20, 1947, and services held there until 1970.
Pastors serving during this period were: Herbert Livingston, Elizabeth Dumann, Peter Tucker, Richard Hayes, Brian McCutcheon, Harry Orris, George Lashley and Harry Greene.
During Rev. Lashley’s pastorate the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ on Main St. was purchased. It was dedicated by Dr. Robert Goslaw on November1, 1970. In 1978, under the leadership of Rev. Donald Chamberlain, the congregation bought the property adjacent to the church for the parsonage. A fellowship hall was soon added to make the property complete.
Rev Michael McGarry came to pastor the congregation in October 1985. In 1989 the Congregation purchased 16 acres of property and built a new sanctuary and family life center.
The next pastor was Rev Randy Dillon who served from June 1998 to March 2007.
In June of 2007 Rev Dr Cookie Tressler was appointed as the pastor.
On July 8, 2012 Rev Nathan Zipfel was appointed as the Co-Pastor of the church.
A historic vote occured on July 29, 2012 by the congregations of both the New Life Church of the Nazarene and the Jerome Church of the Nazarene to merge into one congregation.
On Sunday November 4, 2012 we celebrated the retirement of Rev. Dr Cookie Tressler.
